Thanks to all who came out and supported Writing for Film at the nexStage Theater. Great kickoff to the Sun Valley Film Festival. Special thank you to Elizabeth Rodgers for screening “Old Dog” and to Charles Brandt for discussing the latest news on the adaptation of his book “I Heard You Painted Houses” into Martin Scorsese’s film “The Irishman.”

A conversation about transforming words into vision

Wednesday, March 15th, 2017, 5-6pm at NexStage Theater

free and open to the public

What’s it like when Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese start quizzing you about your experiences with mob boss Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran? Join us and find out as we host an intimate conversation with Charles Brandt. He’ll discuss the adaptation of his true crime thriller “I Heard You Paint Houses” into Scorsese’s forthcoming film “The Irishman” (De Niro, Pacino, Peschi.) Brandt’s career as a teacher, investigator, lawyer, author and occassional mob boss confessor make him a touchstone for writers of all stripes.

Plus a big welcome back to Elizabeth Rodgers, Silver Creek’s 2016 Screenwriter-in-Residence! Rodgers will screen her short (and darkly comedic) film “Old Dog” and discuss lessons learned during a career in writing, producing, and directing for TV and film. From directing films and finding local funding to writing scripts that catch the eye of major Hollywood agents, Rodgers will discuss both pitfalls and successes in her smart and erudite style. A great primer for those writers beginning their careers; a further inspiration for those on the verge of bigger things.
